We recommend stuff that we actually use and believe in. We use Adobe Lightroom and Slack every single day. Eric’s North Face has lived and survived Scotland weather. We search flights using Google Flights. We create photos with a Fujifilm. Lisa’s Osprey Farpoint 40 has been carry-on luggage more times than she can count. We’re typing this introduction from an Airbnb in Romania. We love our gear, our tools, and our resources – and we hope they can work as well for you.
Please Note: Some of the links are compensated, meaning we get a small commission if you decide to purchase one of these awesome products! For you, there’s no extra cost.
Eric thinks Mec backpacks are the best. His day-pack is 10 years old and it’s not slowing down. For longer trips, a bag from the “Spirit” line serves his needs perfectly – acting as checked or carry-on if packed correctly.
Osprey Farpoint 40
Lisa’s backpack has been all around Europe. Small enough to count as carry-on on places, but large enough to hold gear for a few months around Europe. It’s Lisa’s perfect travel companion (besides Eric).
Eric’s black Northface jacket has been through pouring rain in Antwerp and chilling wind in Stockholm. It’s lightweight, water-resistant and the foldaway hood makes it the perfect outer layer for any weather.
A great source for travel insurance. Eric’s current coverage (2018) was purchased through the site. It’s not always the cheapest option but definitely the most convenient – especially if you are already travelling (which he already was). Literally a potential life-saver!
Having personally used Hostelworld (and their flawless app) over 25 times, Eric trusts all his hostel booking needs with them. He trusts their reviews wholeheartedly and has never been disappointing.
Rome2rio is the ultimate tool for determine how to get from point A to Point B. Type in any two locations, and voila – a good understanding of all the trains, buses, flights, etc between the two places! We’ve been using it for years.
Affectionally known as “Nicky the Nikon”, Eric’s camera was – or still is – the perfect introductory DSLR for an amateur photographer. Even shooting with the stock lens, its capabilities have captured many wanders.
Upgrading from an old Canon, Lisa’s mirrorless camera is the perfect mix of function and features. The next model (XT20) is already available, but her XT10 is friends with Nicky and more than enough for the average traveller.
GoPro Hero Session 5
This GoPro survived our first trip together (and more). That includes a harsh Polish winter, and a champagne spill in Berlin over New Years. Don’t ask about the details of that, though.
The necessary tool for all your photo editing needs. Lightroom differs from Photoshop in its ability to “batch” process many photos quite quickly. The mobile app integration and easy syncing across devices is a must-have.
Social Media & Blogging
Website hosting is always a hotly-contested topic among bloggers. We switched to Siteground after having another host and don’t regret the decision. 24/7 live support and our website certainly loads a lot faster now!
Surface Pro 4
Eric’s computer is a Surface. He’s still holding strong to the PC tribe. It’s light and powerful, making it perfect for travelling. The keyboard detaches which makes the tablet (and pen) perfect for Lightroom (photo editing).
If you don’t already use Slack for communication between your team members and for its productivity tools, you should probably start immediately. Slack is a powerful tool for people who get things done.
If you’re a visual organizer who makes lists, Trello is for you. Creating customizable “cards” makes tasks and lists easy to see and manage. We use it every day for blog posts and other tasks.
